City of Irvine Town Hall Meeting. Residents are invited to a town hall meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11 at the Lakeview Senior Center. Vector Control District officials will lead the discussion about an influx of flea-borne typhus cases and  mosquito-borne West Nile virus. Learn the latest news on the Irvine numbers and on prevention from Orange County Vector Control’s experts. Lakeview Senior Center is at 20 Lake Road, Irvine, 92604, across from Woodbridge High School. No RSVP required. Admission is free. For more information about the meeting: (949) 654-2421.

Cat Flea

Cat fleas are especially common during our warmer months. They infest many species of vertebrate animals (not just cats) such as opossums, dogs, and domestic and feral cats. In addition to an unpleasant bite, they can transmit (vector) bacteria that cause flea-borne typhus.
